Ashley Addiction Treatment announced that it has acquired Aquila Recovery, an outpatient addiction treatment provider with four locations across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. Aquila will become a member of Ashley’s network by July 1, with both organizations retaining their respective names in the meantime. Ashley president and CEO Rebecca Flood will serve in the same role once the merger is completed, overseeing all operations.
Ashley, a not-for-profit provider of inpatient and outpatient treatment for substance use disorders, as well as sobriety enrichment, community outreach, family and children’s education, and specialty programs, has sought to expand its presence in the Greater Washington and Northern Virginia region, the company said in a news release announcing the deal. By acquiring Aquila, which was founded in 2011, Ashley adds outpatient addiction treatment sites in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Washington, Leesburg, Virginia, and Herdon, Virginia.
“It felt like a natural fit,” Flood said of the acquisition in an email to Behavioral Healthcare Executive. “Both organizations have legendary founders in Johnny Allem at Aquila and Fr. Martin and Mae Abraham at Ashley. Our philosophical approaches to treatment closely align and the dedicated staff at each organization have worked together for almost a decade creating a seamless system of care for many of our patients who live in the DC region.”
