PALO ALTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Norwest Venture Partners announced today that it has made a growth equity investment in Gateway Learning Group (Gateway), a leading provider of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Gateway is based in San Francisco and provides services in 17 counties throughout California.
Trends in Healthcare and Autism Spectrum Disorder
In 2018, the CDC estimated a one in 59 prevalence of autism spectrum disorder among U.S. children, nearly double the rate from its 2009 report. In response to the growing need for ABA services of the highest clinical quality, Gateway has leveraged the latest advancements in healthcare and technology to support families managing ASD. ABA is an evidence-based therapy designed to encourage positive behaviors and minimize behaviors that interfere with learning.
Since 2005, Gateway has successfully served the growing needs of children with ASD and their families. With this new investment, the company will continue to expand the reach of its high quality services. “Gateway has spent the past 14 years developing processes and technologies that deliver consistent, high-quality ABA care at scale to patients in California. We’re excited to have Norwest’s help expanding our practice to reach more patients in more regions of the country,” said Colin Davitian, CEO and co-founder of Gateway. “Moreover, we’re keenly focused on partnering cooperatively with payers to maximize outcomes for patients.”
“Norwest’s track record in the healthcare space shows a consistent focus on category-defining companies that take innovative approaches to help large, underserved markets,” said Ryan Harris, MD, General Partner at Norwest. “We invested in the Gateway team for their outstanding clinical practices, stellar ethics, and great reputation with families.”
